![]() ![]() Continuing tomorrow, it is gloriously overwrought and extremely enjoyable, wobbly accents and all. ![]() When tragedy strikes, the newcomers find themselves drawn to their new friends and their curious habits as sexual tensions rise evangelical intolerance, police corruption and coercive control are also thrown into the bubbling pot, while the script itself owes an obvious debt to Desperate Housewives. Creepy neighbour Hugh Dennis, meanwhile, watches on through his camera lens, carefully keeping his disabled and long-suffering wife at a safe distance from his sordid activities. They’re instantly welcomed by sunny yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw) and her muscly bike-cop partner Danny (Sam Heughan). Adapted by David Allison from a Dutch original, this six-part suburban horror begins (after a confusing flashforward) with pregnant teacher and all-round open book Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and steadfast journalist Pete (Alfred Enoch) moving into a Truman Show-esque neighbourhood. After Suspect, Before We Die and Professor T, this is surely the most enjoyably lurid series to date from production studio Eagle Eye, whose trade is cannily selected adaptations of Eurothrillers. ![]()
